Who We Serve

The Hydropower Foundation serves educators, students, and the hydropower community by supporting hydropower’s role in our clean energy future through education, research, and workforce development.

Progressing workforce development, education, and research related to hydropower since 1994

  • Supporting the balance between industry research, workforce development, educational outreach;
  • Creating programs such as Hiring for Hydro™ and Think Tank™ Programs that reach educators, students, and researchers at the university level and beyond with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion;
  • Funding scholarships such as the Julie Keil and Mike Sale awards to support women and graduate students;
  • Connecting resources and training opportunities between students and industry through workshops and webinars;
  • Promoting data and information that prepares the next generation workforce with materials focused on research, the waterpower resource and workforce oppoertunities;
  • Partnering on the STEM Workforce Development project through a grant funded by WPTO and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
