The 2022 recipient of the Julie Keil Scholarship Award will be presented to a young woman who reflects many of Julie’s attributes.
“Receiving this scholarship has been such an honor. The award has helped make the pursuit of a graduate degree focused on water resources engineering more attainable and has further opened my eyes to the vast opportunities within the hydropower field. Getting to travel with the foundation to Denver for Hydrovision was also an incredible experience. Being surrounded by so many leaders in the field allowed me to make strong connections that have helped me in pursuit of my professional career, and the event left me feeling more knowledgeable, encouraged, and excited for the future of hydropower and water resources! Receiving this scholarship has really made a huge impact on my graduate education and career path, and I have accepted a position with Stantec as the Water Resources EIT!” -Chelsee Brumback
Currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering at North Carolina University, Chelsee Brumback has demonstrated the ability to foster collaboration between researchers, engineers, policymakers, and the public while ensuring renewable energy and environmental sustainability remain in focus. Miss Brumback has been recognized as a University of Louisville Dean’s Scholar Honoree from 2017-2021 while pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. She volunteers her time with the American Society of Civil Engineers and is a member of the Honor Society of the Chi Epsilon Civil Engineering Club. As a first-generation college student, Chelsee has shown strength and persevered to complete her degree despite financial challenges. She continues her academic journey toward obtaining her Master’s degree and an eventual career in hydropower.
