About the Award

An education scholarship program for women enrolled in their sophomore – senior year in an accredited college or university and majoring in a discipline relevant to entering a career related to hydropower. The scholarship recipient is selected using criteria in line with merit and financial need. The Scholarship Committee will review each application using the following categories: Personal essay, outside appraisal, extracurricular activities, awards & honors, academic performance, and unusual personal or family circumstances.

Why is this scholarship important to you?

Personal Essay

Julie Keil promoted hydropower as a renewable energy technology and a responsible steward of the nation's water resources. She helped unite disparate and often dissenting individuals to work towards common goals through her leadership, courage, and strength. Her keen negotiating skills helped create outcomes that reflected fair dealing and the intricate relationship among engineering, the environment, and economics. In addition, she brought uncommon energy, persistence, and enthusiasm to all her efforts on behalf of the hydropower community.

The Hydropower Foundation and its governance committee have the responsibility for selecting recipients based on criteria as outlined in the program's description. I acknowledge that the decisions of the Hydropower Foundation are final. I certify I meet the program's eligibility requirements as described in the guidelines, and the information provided is complete and accurate to the best of my knowledge. If requested, I will provide proof of information, including an official transcript of grades. Falsification of information may result in termination of any award granted. I understand that the Hydropower Foundation Selection Committee may review my application, transcript, and attachments. I understand that if selected for this scholarship, the financial award will be sent to the university I am currently enrolled in to be applied to the current semester's tuition.
